Nightlife in Buenos Aires
Topic: Tips for Buenos Aires
All what you’ve read and heard about BA’s nightlife is true… and as it usually happens, reality is much richer than any tale or story. Argentines are beautiful and sexy as well as sophisticated and elegant. Both men and women fit the stereotype of hot Latinos and delicate Europeans… Many say it’s the blend of Italian and Spanish immigrants, I must say that there’s something in the Good Airs of Buenos Aires that highlights the beauty and sexy within every one of us. If I had to put my finger on the cultural factor to this beauty I would risk it’s the extraordinary result of local populations and immigrants from all Europe… It really doesn’t matter were it came from, the good thing it’s here to stay, party and enjoy life to the most.
Argentines love to go out, enjoy great food and drinks as much as they love to party and dance till dawn. The options throughout the city are as broad as taste options there are.
If it's fun you're looking for, the nightlife in Buenos Aires offers plenty of that. Nightclubs take on a new meaning as people dance and party well into the morning hours.
The nightclub scene is hot in Buenos Aires. You can literally party all night at any of the stupendous clubs. From live electronic music performances at Pacha and Mint to wild and gorgeous fashion shows at Buenos Aires news and Opera Bay. From tropical cumbia music to rock n’ roll, all sorts of people hang out in BA’s nightlife.
For South American style with European flair, Buenos Aires partying evenings start the minute the sun goes down and people leave the office… Thursday to Sunday are the hot evening nights in the city---
People first meet for drinks. Pubs & Lounges in Palermo Hollywood, Soho and Las Canitas are these days’ hot spots. A couple of sexy drinks may be something sweet like red bull and vodka or a precious treat: vodka, passion fruit and mint… or may be if you’re feeling more traditional just a martini or a glass of superb local Malbec red wine.
At about 9-10 PM Argentines, especially Portenos, head to the restaurants and Resto bars for the latest cuisine trend.
BA features a marvelous variety of outstanding restaurants. If visiting, indeed a must is to -at least once- enjoy some of Argentina’s finest grilled meat. Keep an open mind and you’ll enjoy all sort of delicate treats and feasts. For fusion cuisine Palermo is the place, hip and trendy restaurants with great service feature more than interesting options. For the ultimate sophistication and elegance, don’t hesitate go to Buenos Aires Sofitel hotel on Arroyo St or the Alvear Palace bistro. Traditional and perfect to the tiniest detail, these restaurants rarely go wrong.
Let me provide a little insight on the Portenian way of being, we take very good care of our dining experiences and it’s very common that we’re in a restaurant for several hours, enjoying the food and the company. Dinning time can extend until passed midnight…

So the fact that we “hit” the clubs after 1-2 AM shouldn’t be strange. The peak of the clubbing night might be achieved at 4 AM in the morning and the party goes on and on until dawn… Trendy and hip people, Argentines dress accordingly to the latest fashion style in vogue, and the night out is not just about the dance and fun, but a show off window.
Slim and beautiful of exotic features the Argentine woman has a true unique beauty and a sculptural body… There has been quite a fuzz around many of our lovely women… At the Latin MTV awards made several peoples’ jaws drop like in cartoons or the latest Internet revolution around Agustina or “Keyra”s most perfect back side!
Beauty and soul… Argentines have that typical Latino groove! They are always moving and dancing to whatever tune is playing.

After such an amazing evening out, when the sky begins to turn red, orange and deep blue it’s time to rest… not before enjoying a lovely breakfast by the river.
As the sun begins to raise upon the city we all head home for a good (day-night) sleep… None of these party people would hit the streets before noon! That’s why weekends in BA are so quiet until lunch!

Red Blood Film Festival Buenos Aires
Topic: Tips for Buenos Aires
Film Festival this time every year....... Buenos Aires and what to do.

Buenos Aires Rojo Sange, Red Blood Buenos Aires is an annual film festival that features presentations on bizarre and fantastic movies. Only in its kind in our country, and one of the few in the style in Latin America, this fantastic festival began to be conceived by a group of enthusiasts who realized the growing number of these sorts of films being made in Argentina.

Mostly done in VHS and in an “ultra independent way” –as the organizers describe- these kinds of films had no place in any of the several local film festivals.

All and all, in spite of the little gender recognition, a group of enthusiasts and hard working young crowd gathered together and worked on preparing the first BARS festival. It was held in September 2000, at the Sociology faculty of the University of Buenos Aires, showing among many other films: Plaga Zombie (by Hernan Saez and Pablo Pares) and El Planeta de los Hippies (by Ernesto Aguilar). On 2001, the festival was once again organized, but this time, it was held at the famous San Martin Cultural centre. More than 600 spectators enjoyed a broader variety of films. Just two years after the first attempt, the Festival was already a hit… more than 1,800 spectators and several new artists showcased their work.

In 2003 international participants from all over the globe –Japan, US, France, Italy and Spain mainly- chose this festival for their feature presentations. Over 80 great films were shown! Run Run Bunny! (Mad Crampi), Tico tico (Marcelo Domizi), Bano de Sangre (Paula Pollacchi), Mala Carne (Fabian Forte), Ruta hacia la muerte (Francisco de Lezica) y Vacaciones en la tierra (Sebastian de Caro) are just some of the most welcomed ones.

This new edtition stands upon a great 5,000 spectators from the 2004 edition. From October 28th to November 3rd this year’s festival will be a greater and better one than before for we’re sure it’s growing and developing on the right line. As a reference for the Argentine Sci Fi, horror and fantasy film productions, the festival was declared of interest by the National Insitute of Film and Audiovisual arts and by the city’s government.

Topic: Tips for Buenos Aires
Buenos Aires from within...

The intense tourist flow Buenos Aires experienced during the past two years has positively impacted on the city and its offer to the visitors.

It is very common for those of us who have traveled the world to be quite disappointed with the lodging offer in big cities. The extremes within the offer high class very expensive hotels or cheap-cheap accommodation it?s the options we?re forced to choose from. And also very common is that within those alternatives, we find ourselves surrounded by foreigners alike us. Don?t get me wrong, it?s fantastic to meet people from all over the world when traveling, but to me bonding with the locals and getting to know their ways is as important as the sights I?m gonna picture in my photographs.

In spite of the fact that Buenos Aires is a cosmopolite capital city, with its busy and wild downtown, its monuments and gorgeous outings, within the city one finds an interesting mixture of quarters, modern, old, vintage, hip, bohemian, all of which have residential areas with gorgeous houses and sights to visit. This interesting city composition has allowed the city of Tango to offer it?s visitors a broad variety of lodging alternatives. From 5 star luxurious hotels, boutique lodging, B&B, hostels, rooms to let in family houses, and apartments to rent for a day, a week, or a month, fully furnished as well as Apart hotels all of them in excellent locations within the city and its attractions.

Richard Welch ?one of the world?s most famous trend hunters- had foreseen BA?s potential to innovate and revolutionize traditional options, and these lodging opportunities appear clear to our eyes as part of that trend he discovered.

For those travelers seeking a bonding-culture experience some of the lodging options within BA appear as custom made to fit their needs.

Ranging from 20 up till 100 US dollars a night you can rent a room at a gorgeous house anywhere from the Bohemian San Telmo to the chick and sophisticated Retiro area. For this lodging alternative is recent and original you can find it under several names: B&B, hostel, Casa de Familia ?family house-, boutique hotel? Although there are hostelings of all kinds, these room rentals in specially arranged houses to welcome the visitor into the life of a true porte?o ?person who lives in Buenos Aires- are a superb option. Including breakfast and maid service, these houses are run in person by their owners fluent in foreign languages and in the most of the cases 99.9% of the times very friendly and kind, welcoming the visitor into their lives, traditions and sharing tips and city treasures only us locals know of. Plus, some of the most interesting features among these lodging options are their extra custom fit services that go from tango lessons, to Spanish for forigners and art and antique hunts.

The options are endless within these alternatives for there?s no pre plan for you to stick to, just doing what you like most in company of great people and living in a fantastic place.

A natural reserve in down town Buenos Aires......
Topic: Tips for Buenos Aires
GreenPeace should like this, natural reserve in down town Buenos Aires......

As any other big city, Buenos Aires' downtown can be a bit overwhelming to
all those nature lovers.
There's a fantastic getaway just minutes away from Plaza de Mayo, downtown
BA. An escape from the cement jungle into a ecological reserve a few blocks
away from the sophisticated Madero Docks facing the huge River Plate.
BA's unique location as a portside city in such a rich soil country has its
advantages, no doubt about it.
Straight down Belgrano Av. after crossing one of the River Plate's arms, you
'll get to the Neriedas monument, a fantastic sea inspired sculpture crafted
by internationally known artist Lola Mora. To the left and right, there's a
gorgeous riverside promenade deck, several resting areas underneath gorgeous
pergolas, and a great variety of stands selling handcrafts and food to go. A
few blocks away, the antiques and handcraft's lovers would find a fantastic
weekend market.
And across the river, the imponent Ecological Reserve and it's wildlife,
great variety of Delta trees shrubs and native willow woods. Growing by
the riverside, you'll admire the national tree: Ceibo, that grow from seeds
brought in by the water. Reedmace and reeds act as a background ponds for a
variety of fauna. Bird species typical of the Pampas wetlands prevail among
many local mammals, fish, reptiles and insects.
At 1550 Tristan Achaval Rodriguez Av. The reserve is open all year round:
April to October from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm and from November to March: from
8:00 am to 7:00 pm. And access is free of charge.
