Adolphe Thomasse's art deco fans.The firm of Duvelleroy was born in Paris, France in the early 1800s. This
was one of the finest fan painting businesses that had begun to conquer that
specific artistic and sophisticated ornament market after the Industrial
Revolution. This is an important time mark, necessary for any given
analysis, because the advance of industry and the bourgeois society was a
true turning point in this specific kind of art, linked from the beginning
of times to Monarchies and royalty of all latitudes.

During the 1890's Duvelleroy produced very fine double sided fans. From the
1850's to 1890's some very fine lace fans were produced with mainly Honiton,
Brussels and Chantilly lace.
